CELEBRATION OF TRADITIONS AND ARTS

The Tema West Municipal Assembly has commemorated the 41st National Farmer’s Day with a vibrant ceremony held at the forecourt of the Assembly, celebrating the invaluable contributions of farmers and fisherfolk to national development. The event, observed under the theme “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future,” highlighted the vital role of agriculture in sustaining the country’s food systems and economic progress.

The celebration involved a number of important persons, including traditional leaders, assembly members, farmers, and invited guests. Among the dignitaries present were the Member of Parliament for the Tema West Constituency, Hon. Lawyer James Enu, and the Administrator of the District Assembly Common Fund, Mr. Michael Harry Yamson, whose participation underscored the national commitment to promoting mechanized farming and sustainable agricultural practices.



Addressing the gathering, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Ludwig Teye Totimeh, commended the dedication, resilience, and hard work of the municipality’s farmers and fisherfolk. He emphasized that their efforts form the backbone of food production and play a crucial role in securing the nation’s agricultural future.


A key highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of awards to outstanding farmers across multiple categories. Honors were given to the Overall Best Farmer, Best Crop Farmer, Best Livestock Farmer, and several others. Award recipients received essential farming tools, inputs, and equipment aimed at boosting productivity and supporting their continued contribution to local food security.



The 41st National Farmer’s Day celebration in Tema West reinforced the ongoing commitment of the Assembly and its partners to recognizing excellence in agriculture while advocating for innovation and sustainability within the sector.
