TEMA WEST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY HOSTS TRAINING PROGRAM ON ELECTRONIC PROCUREMENT SYSTEM (GHANAPS)

The Tema West Municipal Assembly has organized a training program on the Electronic Procurement System (GHANAPS) on the 21st and 22nd August, 2025 to strengthen transparency, accountability, and efficiency in its procurement processes. The training, held at the Assembly’s conference hall, brought together procurement officers, departmental heads, and key administrative staff to improve capacity on the use of the Government of Ghana’s e-Procurement platform.

Opening the session, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Ludwig Teye Totimeh, underscored the Assembly’s commitment to adopting digital tools that promote good governance. He highlighted that the GHANAPS system would help reduce manual bottlenecks, minimize corruption risks, and ensure fair competition in awarding contracts.

Facilitators from the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) guided participants through modules including registration and vendor management, submission of tenders, evaluation processes, contract award, and compliance monitoring. Practical demonstrations were also provided to enable participants to navigate the platform effectively.

Staff who took part in the training expressed their appreciation for the program, describing it as a vital step towards aligning the Assembly with national policies on digital transformation and public financial management. The Assembly assured that continuous refresher sessions will be organized to ensure that staff remain up-to-date with evolving features of the GHANAPS system, ultimately improving service delivery within the municipality.
