TEMA WEST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY MCE LEADS COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP AND SANITATION EXERCISE

On the 1st of November, 2025 the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tema West Municipal Assembly, Hon. Ludwig Teye Totimeh, led a massive clean-up and sensitization exercise across key areas of the municipality. The exercise was conducted by members of the Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit, officials from other departments of the Assembly, assembly members, market traders, volunteers, and local residents, all working collectively to improve sanitation within Tema West.


The team carried out extensive cleaning activities, including desilting choked drainage systems, clearing overgrown weeds along roadsides, and collecting refuse dumped at unauthorized sites. The exercise targeted major markets, beaches, and other public spaces, with the aim of promoting a cleaner, healthier, and safer environment for all residents of the municipality.



During the exercise, Hon. Totimeh took the opportunity to educate and sensitize market traders and community members on the importance of maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings. He emphasized that environmental sanitation is a shared responsibility that requires active participation from all citizens to help prevent diseases and safeguard public health.


The MCE also encouraged residents to fully observe and support the National Sanitation Day Program, which has been relaunched by the government to foster regular communal cleaning activities nationwide. He commended the enthusiasm of participants and reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to sustaining such initiatives to ensure continuous environmental improvement in Tema West.
