THE TEMA WEST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY ORGANIZED TWO DAYS WORKSHOP TRAINING FOR HON. ASSEMBLY MEMBERS AND SOME KEY STAFF OF THE ASSEMBLY.

The management of the Tema West Municipal Assembly has held a two days’ workshop for the Hon. Assembly Members and some key staff members of the Tema West Municipal Assembly, on Public Financial Management (PFM) cycle, their functional role in planning, budgeting and functionality of the sub-district structure.

The training was organized on the 7th and 8th December,2022 to train personnel on the provision of technical assistance, analysis of the financial statements, budget preparation and financial management.

Speaking at the opening ceremony held at the Assembly Hall, the Coordinating Director of the Tema West Municipal Assembly Mr. Mohammed Ali Amadu said that, the reason why management organized the capacity building was to enable Hon. Assembly Members to develop competencies and skills that can make them more effective and sustainable and also to strengthens their ability to fulfil its mission by promoting sound management, strong governance and persistent rededication to achieve good results.

He stated that, it was the reason why GIZ under the Governance for inclusive Development (GovID) Programme and in collaboration with the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council organized a two-day residential workshop to train Hon. Assembly Members and key staff on Public Financial Management (PFM) cycle, their functional role in planning, budgeting and functionality of the Sub-District Structures.

The Head of Human Resource Department at the Tema West Municipal Assembly, Mrs. Naomi Ameyaw Boachie hinted that, the objective for the workshop was to expose participants to the provisions of L.I. 1967. (Urban Zonal and town councils and Unit committees. And also, to appreciate their role and responsibilities as members of the councils.

She therefore called on Hon. Assembly members to apply the knowledge acquired in the day to day running of the various electoral areas to enhance decent service delivery. Participants at the workshop were taken through the Analysis of Financial Statement, Preparation of Annual Budget at the MMDA Level and Public Financial Management.
