REPORT ON CAREER GUIDANCE SEMINAR FOR THREE (3) SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL IN THE TEMA WEST MUNICIPALITY WAS HELD ON 19TH MAY – 1ST SEPTEMBER 2023.
National Youth Authority in collaboration with National Commission for Civic Education organized Career Guidance Seminar for three (3) Senior High Schools which includes: Corpus Christi, Lashibi Community Day School, Tema Senior High School in the Municipality and this was fully sponsored by the Tema West Municipal Assembly.

The purpose of this seminar is to assist students especially those in the third year to plan for their educational achievement, Career path and to help student have a better understanding of themselves that will lead them to make a meaningful career path.

Our resource persons outline the importance of career development and guidance as
1.Help students identify their strengths and weaknesses
2.Provide students with a clear sense of direction
3.Help students make informed decisions
4.Updated on all the career paths
5.Gives a clear career road map
6.Resolve career disputes between parents and children

They made mention of courses to study to attain a particuler profession, but stressed on the fact that SHS courses doesnot necessarily determine the career path of students. The guideline to become what they want to be is by findout the courses to study, reading more on it, seeking conunselling from people in the same field and getting a mentor.


They advised the students to access the various career guidance resources available to them such as NYA, GES, Career counsellors, online resources and people with similar goals.
They left them with; IF YOU FAIL TO PLAN, YOU PLAN TO FAIL.
In all, One Thousand, Two Hundred and one (1,201) students took part in the career guidance seminar with break down as follows; Corpus Christi Senior High School with 226 students, Lashibi Community Day Senior High School with 362 students and Tema Senior High School with 573 students.
