TWMA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT IN OCTOBER 2022
The month of October experienced few heavy rains and warm weather.
Activities that were carried out include:
Extension Services Delivery
Home and farm visit
Agriculture Extension Agents (AEAs) assisted farmers, Farmers Based Organizations (FBOs) and other clients along the agricultural value chain by providing them with technical knowledge on new technologies as well as advisory services. Some free agrochemicals under the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) programme were also distributed.
Monitoring and Supervision
1.1. The heavy rains during the period under review led to some farmlands being flooded. The Department together with NADMO went to some affected fields to ascertain the extent of damage caused by the rains.

Cultivating of some crops is ongoing in various operational areas, these crops include; Maize, Okro, green pepper and others.

A variety of crops such as okra, cucumber, bonnet pepper, lettuce and spring onion were harvested from the garden in October.

The Veterinary Unit under the Department of Agriculture organized sensitization program on anti-rabies vaccination in some basic schools in the Municipality: Holy Child, Sakumono Complex, Klagon TMA and Kotobabi TMA Basic Schools.

The Regional Veterinary Unit organized a training on Bird flu for poultry farmers in the Municipality.

The Department organized a general meeting for staff to share ideas from the operational areas, correspondence and any other matters.
Ghana Green Label Standard
Four (4) staff had the opportunity to undergo a 4-day training organized by Green Label at Erata Hotel, East Legon. They were trained to build their capacity on the Green Label Certification Scheme and disseminate the knowledge to their farmers.
Food and Nutrition Food Security Monitoring System
The Municipality has been selected to undertake a nationwide survey on households to track the status of food and nutrition security in the country. A training on Food and Nutrition Security Monitoring System was therefore organized by MoFA and SRID for the selected districts at Bunso Cocoa College in Koforidua of which 2 staff attended.
