The Tema West Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the Municipal Education Directorate paid a working visit to children attending school for the first time on Tuesday, 10th January, 2023. The visit which is officially dubbed “My First Day At School” is to welcome children back to school.

The purpose of the visit was to also motivate first time attendants to stay in school through the provision of gifts which appeal to them and educational materials.

Items given out to the children included Exercise Books, Crayons, Pencils, Erasers, Biscuits and Drinks.

At each of the schools visited, the team seized the opportunity to address the children in turns.

Addressing the entire school audience, the Presiding Member, Hon. Patrick Atitiati Laweh Osanyonmor who was in the stead of the Municipal Chief Executive, encouraged school authorities, teachers and pupils alike to feel free to discharge their educational responsibilities adding that government will supply all the necessary logistics to ensure their safety.

He urged parents to provide basic safety logistics for their children and not wait on government to provide for them adding however government will compliment their effort in the schools.

The Municipal Director of Education, Isaac MacCarthy Mensah also encouraged the school children to take their studies seriously to enable them achieve their dreams.

Interacting with some learners, they shared some of their dreams to become nurses, doctors, police officers, presidents, Coiffeurs and chauffeurs among others. The schools visited were Adjei-Kojo TWMA Basic, Adjei-Kojo school for the Deaf, Klagon TWMA Basic School, Lashibi TWMA Basic School among others.
