TEMA WEST MUNICIPAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE TOURS BECE CENTERS..


The Chief Executive of the Tema West Municipal Assembly (TWMA), Hon. Ludwig Teye Totimeh with the Member of Parliament for the Tema West Constituency Hon. Lawyer James Enu, has toured some Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) centers in the Tema West Municipality to enable them to assess the conditions under which the students are writing the exams.


Hon. Ludwig Teye, who was also accompanied by officials from the Assembly and the officials from the Municipal Education office, visited all the examination centers within Municipality. Speaking with the candidates sitting for 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), the Municipal Chief Executive used the opportunity to wish the candidates well and encourage them to rely on God and eschew all forms of examination malpractices during the examination period to pass successfully.


“We are here to encourage you all to rely on God and not cheating to come out successfully. We are with you and pray that the Lord will enlighten and give you wisdom, understanding and retentive memory” he said. “You are the future generation, and I want to encourage you to look up to God, fear not and don’t attempt to cheat but genuinely do your best and God will see you through” he advised.


About 4249 candidates comprising 2201 females and 2048 males are writing the examination in 12 centers across the Municipality are said to be taking this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination which began on Monday and is expected to end on Monday, May 2026. After Monitoring some of the centers within the Municipality, Hon MCE, said all the centers he visited evidently showed that the Teachers had prepared the candidates very well and judging from the demeanor of the children, it clearly depicted seriousness and was obvious they were in to pass. He therefore appealed to parents to spare their children sometime during the period and supervise them to learn to come out successfully.


On his part, the Member of Parliament for the Tema West Constituency Hon. Lawyer James Enu motivated the candidate s to remain calm and self -assured, urging them to apply everything they had been taught..


“Go and face the exams with confidence. What you have studied is enough, just remain calm and give it your best, he said adding that the examination marked a critical transition from basic to senior High education. He further encouraged the candidates to make their parents, teachers and themselves proud by excelling in the examination. Madam Fatima Akuye Antiaye, Human Resource Manager for the Tema West Municipal Education Directorate, reminded the candidates to adhere strictly to examination rules and regulation, cautioning them against carrying foreign materials into the examination halls and stressed the need to pay attention to time management throughout the papers and be punctual to report to the center.


She said the BECE was written annually after three years of Junior Secondary Education in the country to qualify students for admission into senior High and Vocational schools respectively.
