TEMA WEST MCE SUPPORTS FLOOD VICTIMS IN THE MUNICIPALITY WITH RELIEF ITEMS.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Tema West Municipal Assembly, Hon. Ludwig Teye Totimeh, in collaboration with the NADMO unit have presented food items, clothing, buckets, mattresses, bowls, and mosquito nets worth millions of cedis to flood victims in Baatsona, Klagon, Lashibi, Community 5 (Church Village), and Adjei-Kojo.

The relief items, sponsored by the Government and companies within the Municipality, form part of immediate efforts following the recent heavy rains that affected several households and communities. .

Speaking to the victims, Hon. Totimeh said the donation was made on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, the Tema West Municipal Assembly, and the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Lawyer James Enu, to sympathize with affected residents and help them manage the immediate impact of the disaster.

He noted that the Assembly had observed the destruction of mattresses, cooking utensils, food items, and other personal belongings. He added that the Assembly will return with additional support after a detailed assessment of affected households is completed. The MCE further assured residents that he has provided compactors to clear refuse from the affected communities free of charge and has deployed sanitation personnel to support the clean-up exercise. He appealed to residents to stop dumping refuse into gutters and drains, as such actions block drainage channels and worsen flooding.

Hon. Totimeh urged residents to remain united and cooperate with their leaders to ensure that the relief items are fairly distributed to those who need them most. The Presiding Member and Assembly Member for Baatsona Electoral Area, Hon. Abraham Dawuda, expressed appreciation to President Mahama, the MP, and the MCE for responding to the plight of the people. He said the rice, cooking oil, and sanitation tools would go a long way to support affected families and help the community begin the recovery process.
