TEMA WEST MUNICIPAL SIGN SISTER CITY MOU WITH YANTAI CITY A PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was sign on Thursday 30th November 2023 in Zoom conference between the Tema West Municipal Assembly (TWMA) and the people of Yanti City, a Republic of China to begin what was referred to as a “Sister City Relationship.

The Mayor of Yantai City, the people Republic of China and the Hon. Anna Naa Adukwei Addo, Tema West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) both signed the agreement as representative of their county and city respectively.

Although the event marks a formal agreement that will promote economy, trade, education, infrastructure, logistics and student exchange programmes between the two regions, but in actual sense, “we are really signing an agreement to be family, that’s what we are doing here today. And I am so proud, so grateful and so humbled to lead this delegation to sign this today”, said Mayor of Yantai City in his speech.

The sister city partnership explaining the possibility of an existential relationship between Tema West and China. The option for Ghana was agreed on and approved Tema West as one of the country’s new sister cities along with Yantai in China.

According to Hon Anna Naa Adukwei Addo who is the Mayor of the Tema West Municipal Assembly, hinted that, steps are taken to build the sister city relationship between the two cities began when Ghana Ambassador to China and the Mayor of the Yantai City met over a discussion related to the sister city friendly relationship between the Yantai and Tema West Municipality.

Signing of the agreement was witnessed by His Excellence Dr. Winfred Nii Okai Hammond, Ghana’s Ambassador to China and His Excellence Mr. Lu Kun, China Ambassador to Ghana.
