Home and farm visit

Crop Production

1. Farmers in the municipality cultivated tomato, onion, okro, maize, green, chili and bonnet peppers, lettuce, ayoyo, among others.

2. There was harvesting of crops such as okro, maize, tomato, onions from the various operational areas during the period under review.

3. Farmers are also rearing cattle, sheep, goats, poultry, pigs and non-traditional livestock during the period under review.

4. The Department of Agriculture paid a visit to catfish and grass cutter/guinea pigs farmers located at Klagon. During this visit, officers inspected the farms and engaged in conversations with the farmers to gain better understanding of their operations. This allowed them to assess and evaluate the productivity and condition of the farms, in addition to gaining better insight on how they carry out their routine activities.

Monitoring and Supervision

The Municipal Director of Agric. and 2 staff went on monitoring and supervision visits to Comm.3, Klagon and Borteyman to access the implementation of planned activities of AEAs and backstopped when it was necessary. Farmers were asked about their activities and challenges they faced during their line of activities to which technical advice was provided.

Anti-rabies Campaign

The Veterinary Unit under the Department of Agriculture organized sensitization program on anti-rabies vaccination in some basic schools in the Municipality.
