Training Workshop On Administrative Data Compilation

As part of the nationwide switch to the use of administrative data, the Ghana Statistical Service organized a two-day training workshop on administrative data compilation for some selected officers of the Tema West Municipal Assembly from Wednesday, March 2 to Thursday, March 3, 2022, at the Assembly’s Hall.

The main objective of the two-day workshop was to train these officers on how to compile a comprehensive database for each department. The data is relied upon to give inputs into the preparation of Annual Progress Reports of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), as well as reduce the challenges Planning Officers face during Medium Term Development Planning, help in the performance review and also assist in solving developmental issues within the municipality.

The facilitator, in his presentations focused on the role of data collection in our medium term Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). He said data collection guides policies and legislative documents in order to coordinate programs for economic and social development.

Participants, having been sharpened on completing the comprehensive template were encouraged to apply the knowledge acquired in their work because no meaningful planning can be done in the absence of quality data.
