LET WORK TOGETHER -MCE URGED UNIT COMMITTEE MEMBERS.

The Municipal Chief Executive for the Tema West Municipal Assembly Hon. Anna Naa Adukwei Addo has urged the unit Committee Members within the Municipality to work hand in hand, together with their Assembly Members for the betterment of the Municipality.

She said the Unit Committee Members play an essential role in decision making process at the District Assembly level, therefore the role of the Unit Committee Members in local Government process cannot be over emphasized.

Hon. Anna Naa Adukwei Addo, who made this call during her engagement with the Unit Committee Members last Tuesday 22nd February 2022 at the Assembly Hall hinted that, the “Unit Committee Members role is to assist the Assembly to bring governance to the doorstep of the people.

“As a strong local structure of governance, the Unit Committee Members should be a central point for the discussion of any local problems. It is therefore important to note that the success of any sub zonal council depends on the performance of its unit committee Members” she noted.

She therefore charged the unit committee members to serve the people within their electoral areas with humility, adding, you have been elected to serve the people and not to lure over them. Do not use your position to engage in act that will impugn on integrity of the Assembly.

Speaking on behalf of the Unit Committee Members, the leader Mrs. Linda Amponsah pleaded with the Municipal Chief Executive to organized workshop for the Unit Committee Members and also support them in discharging of their duties.

She noted that, the Assembly should also involve them in their activities and resource the Zonal Councils within the Municipality.
