Tema West Municipal Assembly Celebrates 40th Edition of National Farmer’s Day
The Tema West Municipal Assembly marked a significant event on Friday the 8th of November 2024 as it celebrated the 40th Edition of National Farmer’s Day at the Borteyman Roundabout. This year’s event was held under the theme, “Building Climate Resilient Agriculture for Sustainable Food Security,” focusing on the importance of adapting agriculture to climate change for long-term food stability. The ceremony was well attended by traditional leaders, assembly members, dedicated farmers, and distinguished guests.


The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Felicia Edem Attipoe, delivered a heartfelt address, commending the farmers for their relentless dedication and unwavering commitment to sustainable agricultural practices. She highlighted the vital contributions made by these local farmers towards ensuring food security in the region, despite the increasing challenges posed by climate change.
A key highlight of the celebration was the presentation of awards to outstanding farmers who have demonstrated exceptional skills and commitment in various fields of agriculture. The ceremony acknowledged the remarkable achievements of farmers across several categories which included, Overall Best Farmer, Best Crop Farmer and Best Livestock Farmer. The award recipients were presented with a variety of essential farming supplies and equipment, including motorized sprayers, fertilizers, seeds, protective gear, and farm implements.


The 40th Edition of National Farmer’s Day at Tema West was a resounding success, showcasing the hard work of local farmers and reinforcing the crucial role of agriculture in ensuring food security. As the celebration ended, there was a renewed sense of purpose and optimism among the farmers, who left the event motivated and encouraged to continue their vital contributions to the municipality and the nation.
