Tema West Municipal Assembly Conducts Extensive Sewer System Sensitization Campaign.

In a bid to promote community health and streamline sanitation services, the Environmental Health and Sanitation Department of the Tema West Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with the Information Services Unit, recently undertook a comprehensive two-week sensitization campaign. The campaign targeted residents in Communities 2 and 3, 5, as well as Sakumono Estate and its surrounding areas.

The primary focus of the initiative was to remind and educate residents about the importance of regular payment for their sewer services. Residents within Communities 2 and 3, as well as 5, were specifically directed to visit the European Market Office of the Assembly to settle their sewer bills promptly. Those who had not received their bills were urged to report either to the Assembly's Head Office or the Office at the European Market to obtain their bills, preventing any potential inconvenience with the Revenue Taskforce.

The sensitization exercise, which kicked off on Monday, October 30th, and concluded on Tuesday, November 7th, 2023, aimed to enhance awareness about the significance of timely payments for sewer services. The campaign sought to underscore the role of these payments in maintaining and improving the local sewer system infrastructure.

Residents were reminded that adherence to the payment schedule not only ensures the sustainability of the sewer system but also contributes to the overall well-being of the community. The Assembly emphasized its commitment to providing efficient and reliable sanitation services, urging residents to play their part by fulfilling their financial obligations promptly.

Additionally, the sensitization campaign addressed the issue of residents attempting to independently address burst sewer lines. The Assembly discouraged such actions and instead encouraged residents to report any sewer blockages to the Environmental Health and Sanitation Department. The department, staffed with professionals, is equipped to handle repairs and maintenance, ensuring that sewer issues are addressed effectively and in compliance with health and safety standards.

The collaborative effort between the Environmental Health and Sanitation Department and the Information Services Unit reflects the Assembly's commitment to proactive community engagement. By fostering open communication and awareness, the Assembly aims to create a healthier, more sustainable living environment for all residents.

As the campaign wrapped up, residents were left with a renewed understanding of the importance of their role in maintaining the community's sanitation infrastructure. The hope is that this heightened awareness will translate into continued cooperation, leading to a cleaner and more hygienic living environment for everyone in Tema West Municipal Assembly.
