CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW STROM DRAIN AT ADJEI KOJO .


The Tema West Municipal Assembly in its quest to ensuring community participation in decision making has conducted two days Stakeholders’ engagement with the residents and market women within the Municipality towards the developmental project within the areas.


The engagement which was on Friday 20th February 2026 at the Adjei-Kojo Global Down, the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Ludwig Teye Totimeh at the meet discussed issues relating to Road Improvement, Encroachment issues on public land, Street Lighting projects, Security, Environment and Sanitation Issues.


Addressing the gathering, the Assembly Member of the area Hon. Charity Dela Sameh welcomed the Residents Associations present and touched on the day’s agenda and the need to organize stakeholder engagement periodically to brainstorm and plan developmental programs for the development of the Municipality.


The Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Ludwig Teye Totimeh in response to issues raised in respect to road improvement within the Municipality, he indicated that the Assembly has captured all roads within the area that required attention. He said the Assembly had commenced on the construction of the new storm drain that connects the two communities Japan city and Global Drown within Adjei-Kojo and some of the roads have been graded. The meeting discussed issues related to street lighting and the Municipal Chief Executive hinted that the streetlights have been distributed to Assembly Members for installation in their various electoral Areas.


He said the safety and security of the people was dear to him and tasked the Works Department of the Assembly to ensure streetlights which had broken down are repaired and maintained. He said a maintenance culture shall be encouraged during her tenure in office. The meeting discussed issues related to security and safety. The Electorate informed the meeting of break-ins and petty robberies within the area. They identified that drug addiction and cybercrime was a growing phenomenon in the area and wanted them addressed.


The Municipal Chief Executive said, he was the Chairman of the Security Committee within the Municipality and has directed the Security Agencies to enhance their patrols and act swiftly during emergency issues. He alleged the formation of Watchdog Committees should be implemented in the area. Additionally, he advised the public to be vigilant and be each other’s security. With the issues relating to property rates, the Municipal Chief Executive promised to address the issue before the year ends.


One major concern that was raised during the public engagement was issues related to environment and sanitation. The Municipal Chief Executive in her submission indicated that the staff of the Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit are developing a tailored ction Plan which is area specific to address the indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the Municipality.


Hon. Ludwig Teye Totimeh stated that the Assembly shall prosecute offenders who dump refuse indiscriminately in the Municipality. He hinted that the Assembly has set up a sanitation court, to prosecute sanitation offenders.
