Tema West Municipal Assembly Hosts Successful Aquaculture Training Under Aquaculture for Food and Jobs Initiative

Tema West Municipal Assembly, through its Agriculture Department, successfully hosted a two-day training program as part of the Government of Ghana’s “Aquaculture for Food and Jobs” initiative. The event, organized in collaboration with R & B Farms and supported by Hon. Felicia Edem Attipoe, brought together fifty individuals from the Tema West Municipality to receive practical training in catfish farming.

The program aimed to equip participants with the essential skills and knowledge needed to establish and manage catfish farms as profitable business ventures. Over the course of the two days, attendees engaged in hands-on activities and interactive sessions, learning the intricacies of catfish farming, from setting up and managing a farm to understanding the market dynamics and maximizing profits.

This initiative is part of the government's broader strategy to promote sustainable agriculture and create job opportunities within the aquaculture sector. By providing practical training and ongoing support, the program seeks to empower beneficiaries to become successful entrepreneurs in the field of aquaculture.

Hon. Felicia Edem Attipoe, whose support was instrumental in the organization of the event, emphasized the importance of such initiatives in driving economic growth and reducing unemployment. She expressed her satisfaction with the turnout and the enthusiasm displayed by the participants, noting that the training would have a lasting impact on the community.

In addition to the training, participants will receive continuous support and monitoring from the Agriculture Department and R & B Farms to ensure the successful implementation of their catfish farming projects. This ongoing assistance is expected to help the beneficiaries overcome challenges and achieve long-term success in their new ventures.

The event was widely praised for its organization and the quality of the training provided. Participants left with a deep sense of motivation and a clear understanding of the steps needed to start and sustain a catfish farming business. As they embark on their new ventures, the impact of this program is expected to be felt across the Tema West Municipality, contributing to food security and economic empowerment in the region.
