TEMA WEST MUNICIPAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE (MCE) TOURS B. E. C.E CENTRES.
The Tema West Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Anna Naa Adukwei Addo and team comprising of the Municipal Education Director, Mr. Isaac MacCarthy and some members of the Municipal Assembly and Education Directorate on Monday, 7 August 2023 embarked on a tour of the various Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) Centres within the Municipality.
The purpose of the visit was to assess the conditions under which the students were taking the exams and to offer words of encouragement to the candidates.
Examination centers toured by the MCE included Adjei Kojo State school for the Deaf, Klagon TWMA, Lashibi TWMA school, Holy Child Basic School and Sakumono TWMA JHS.
Advising the students at the various centres, Hon. Anna Naa Adukwei Addo, the Tema West Municipal Chief Executive, wished the candidates the best of lack and advised them to abide by all examination rules.
She also advised the candidates to give off their very best to enjoy the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy of government and eschew all forms of examination malpractices during the examination period to pass successfully.
The total number of 4,185 candidates registered in the Tema West Municipality and out this number, 1,997 are boys and 2,188 are girls. Out of the total number of girls registered two had an accident on Friday before the exams but were discharged and were in their wheelchair taking the exams, there was no absentee.
The Hon. MCE later advised the youngsters to take the examination with all the seriousness it deserves, adding that it is an important milestone in their lives.
She also asked them to desist from all forms of examination malpractices because a single infraction of the rules and regulations could negatively affect them for the rest of their lives.
She, therefore, tasked the police to deal with all intruders and unwanted persons that may attempt to cause trouble during and after examination in the Municipality.
On his part, Mr. Isaac MacCarthy Mensah, the Municipal Education Director, hinted that about 4,185 candidates are participating in this year’s BECE which 1,997 are boys and 2,188 are girls all within the private and public schools in the municipality.
He said the BECE is written annually after three years of Junior Secondary Education in High and Vocational schools respectively.
