THE TEMA WEST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY ORGANIZED TWO DAYS TRAINING ON PROFESSINAL SECURITY WORKSHOP FOR SECURITY OFFICERS.

The Human Resource under the management of the Tema West Municipal Assembly has organized a two-days in service training for security personnel within the Assembly.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the training, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Mohammed Ali Amadu noted that, the Assembly faces peculiar security challenges due to its location within the Municipality. He said no major in-service training had been conducted for the security staff in the last years.

That according to him, this had brought about the situation where some security staff are not even aware of task, duties and conduct required of them. The training according to him, sought to address those performance gaps in the security staff.

The Municipal Coordinating Director, was grateful to the Human resource management unit for organizing the training for personnel. He added that the security of staff and clients was of prime concern to management and that required security knowledge and skills to provide adequate security for life and property.

He hinted that the training was part of measures to deal with emerging security issues in the Municipality to ensure that staff operate in a safe and peaceful environment. He therefore urged the personnel to endeavour to put the knowledge and skills they would learn from the training into practice to justify the investment made by the Assembly.

The security personnel were taken through both theoretical and practical lessons on the following topics; basic security drills, patrolling, investigation, code of conduct for security officers, customer service, fire safety training and handing of operational logistics.

Two facilitators drawn from the Ghana Fire Services Department and 4GS security Company took the personnel through the theoretical and practical lessons.

Participants expressed satisfaction and requested the Human Resources Unit to periodically organize similar trainings to bring them up to speed on modern security approaches.

Participants were later issued with certificates of participation. In all about 30 security personnel of Assembly benefited from the training.
