TEMA WEST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY START OPERATION TO ARREST TRICYCLE OPERATORS ON THE MOTORWAY
The Tema West Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Anna Naa Adukwei Addo on Monday 15th of November, 2021 toured some Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) centers in the Tema West Municipality to enable her to assess the conditions under which the students were writing the exams.

As part of enforcing the directive by the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Henry Quartey to stop motorized Tricycle (Aboboyaa) plying the major highways and the Accra Tema motorway, the taskforce led by the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Anna Naa Adukwei Addo on 10th January, 2022 begun an exercise to arrest and prosecute operators of motorized tricycles who flouting regulation.
HON ANNA NAA ADUKWEI(MCE) ARRESTING ONE OF THE TRICYCLE ON THE MOTORWAY
Hon. Anna Naa Adukwei Addo during her operation to inspect the level of compliance on the motorway arrested some tricycles said, tricycle operations on a major road highway and the motorway endangered the road users and contributed to the increasing numbers of road accidents on the motorway.
She hinted that, there were a lot of other alternative routes that the tricycles drivers could use and get to their destination but because the motorway was the shortcut route for them, they prefer that route.
She contends that, triangle are hazards on the roads, “aside from them (Aboboya riders) not having driving licenses, the cycles are not properly insured. They even dump refuse anyhow in the middle of the roads, she complained”
“We cannot create space on the motorway there are alternatives routes that they can use and they know but because the motorway is the shortest route, they want to use that place.
we have even met with them and ask them to use other stretches that could take them to their various destination” she hinted.
Hon. MCE stated that, the Assembly would confiscate all tricycle caught on the motorway and the owner would have to pay a fine before they would be released to them to serve them as a deterrent to other tricycle user.
She later continued tricycle (Aboboyaa) operators to desist from plying on the Tema -Motorway.
Mr. Frank Nii Ayeh, also a tricycle operator, who was also arrested by the task force , said there was the need for a new stretch to be constructed on the motorway for the tricycle drivers to help them go about their duties smoothly and effortlessly.
On his part, one of the operators who was caught in the act said, he was not aware of the initiative hence the need for him to be pardoned.
He noted that, the motorway was the easiest route one could use to work efficiently as other stretches would acquire additional financial loses for him.
The operation which was started on Monday to Wednesday about fifteen tricycle (Aboboyaa) was arrested for violating the laws.
